ATHENA
Athena yawned and stretched on a sun-baked rock, enjoying the last warmth of the day. Eyes half-closed, she gave a contented sigh, enjoying the solitude. Night would be here soon, and it would be time to move on.She'd spent too long in Kausen territory as it was. Even though she had not stolen any prey or shown herself to any of the pack's members, it wouldn't be too long before they realized she was here.
DULCE
Dulce was walking to watch the sunset, as she used to do every day.Nothing new. The same thing, she felt discouraged.
She was a little inattentive when stumbled upon a large branch and arrested the paw.Tried to pull her leg, but she was definitely stuck. "Oh, come on!" Exclaimed angrily, the day couldn't get any worse.It was getting late and she was worried about that.
ATHENA
The outcry of another wolf caught Athena's attention. She perked up, ears swiveling as she tried to pinpoint the sound. They seemed unhappy, but the actually words had been lost to the wind. Maybe someone was in trouble. Rising slowly to her feet, the black she-wolf hopped down from her sunning-place and walked cautiously toward the general direction of the voice. Her paws moved silently over the dying grass, every sense alert for signs of trouble. But except for the cry, things seemed to be peaceful here.
"Hello?" She called softly.
DULCE
In that instant, Dulce heard a voice unknown, that left her a bit apprehensive, but her leg was starting to hurt, any help would be good at that moment.
Raised his ears and tried to find where had come to voice and moaned:
"Is anybody there? My paw is stuck, I can't get out of here "
ATHENA
Athena's head turned sharply in the direction of the voice. She crept forward, tail stiff. A fawn-coloured she wolf came into view, and the black loner crept around from behind. She didn't want to scare the girl if she was in trouble, but Athena wasn't about to come out into the open without knowing what was happening. She watched for a minute, then decided there was no immediate danger and stepped out into the open.
"Hello there." She greeted, assuming a friendly stance and a wry smile. "You look like you need some help."
DULCE
Dulce was lying in an uncomfortable situation, when a dark wolf arose from within the bushes. For a moment she thought was some Kausen wolf, but then she realized it was a loner.
Dulce felt afraid knowing she couldn't protect themselves if that wolf wasn't friendly, but she realized that the wolf did not represent threat
"Oh, Yeah, I-I guess, I got involved in a big trouble this time..", said in a smile a little confused.
ATHENA
Seeing as the pack wolf didn't appear too aggressive, Athena stepped forward. Her ears swiveled back and forth as she listened for any others who might be approaching. "Well, it doesn't look like threatening." She replied, looking amused. "I'm Athena. Would you like some assistance... er-?"
DULCE
''I'm Dulce, n-nice to meet you, Athena. Well, as you can see, my leg is stuck, could you help me get out of here..?'' she said with the low ears, somewhat shy, Dulce had difficulties to meet other wolves.
ATHENA
"A pleasure I'm sure." She replied, sticking her snout down to sniff at the branch Dulce was trapped in. "You're caught there pretty bad, aren't you?" She clawed at it experimentally, but the wood didn't move. Tilting her head, the loner examined the trap from different angles, and then decided, "I'll grab it with my teeth and tug at it, you pull as hard as you can." Lowering her head, Athena bite on the branch and turned her eyes up, "Reathy?"
DULCE
"Okay". Then Dulce waited the sign of Athena and started pulling her leg as strong as her could. The trunk was definitely heavy, they had to make a big effort and it took some time for to move.
With the sudden movement of the trunk, Dulce was thrown into somersaults, and stopped to a short distance away. Raised a little dizzy, limping and searched for Athena.
"Athena?..are you okay?"
ATHENA
The branch splintered and shot back. Where Dulce went flying backwards out of harms way, the wood flew into Athena full force. She was knocked to the dirt, head hitting the ground hard. For a moment, everything went black.
"Ouch." She groaned, pushing the branch off and getting slowly to her feet. A fit of dizzyness made her sit back on her haunches, ducking her head to feel the bruise with a forepaw. A sizable bump was already forming. "Not one of my more graceful moments, I'll admit." She replied with a sarcastic laugh, looking over at Dulce. "But I think I'll live. What about you?"
DULCE
Dulce looked at her leg, somewhat hurt by the heavy branch, then turned around looking in the direction of Athena.
"Well, it's not very serious, it seems that this time I'll survive"she said smiling, a little sad. Then she limped to where Athena was sitting to apologize and see if everything was okay.
"..I'm so sorry, it's my fault, if it weren't for me you wouldn't be hurtsaid with low ears, staring at the ground, which had some blood splatters.
ATHENA
Following Dulce's gaze to the bloodstained ground, Athena looked down at her paw. It was wet where she had rubbed her head. "I guess that's mine." Her gaze turned sharply to Dulce as the pack wolf made her apology. Smiling warmly, Athena shook her head - wincing a bit. "Don't apologize, it isn't your fault. And besides, I'm fine. It's just a little scrape."
Athena licked the blood off her paw, making sure to sit up straight so Dulce would see she wasn't badly hurt."Are you from Kausen, then?" She could already smell the answer, but conversation might help ease the youngster's mind.
DULCE
Dulce took a deep breath, trying to calm down.She was charging too much for yourself, and see that Athena had been hurt by her guilt, left a little sad.
"Why do I have to be so clumsy?" She thought.
Then she sat down, putting the body weight on the leg that wasn't sore.Raised her ears, looking intently for Athena and listened to the question.
"Oh, Yes, I'm from Kausen, guess I didn't introduce myself right, I mean, I think I never meet any wolf in a normal way, I'm so clumsy"Smiled ironically.
"And you, is a loner, I suppose? I never have seen you around these parts"
ATHENA
"Those sorts of meetings make for the best colloquy." She replied, trying not to move her head too much. It was starting to really hurt now, but she didn't want Dulce to know that. "Yes, I live on my own." Grey eyes warm, the she-wolf continued, "And this isn't the strangest way I've ever made an acquaintance, I assure you."
DULCE
Dulce smiled "I don't know many wolves, but I think this time overcame me about making a mess of these".
She tried to change positions, but moaned to remember the paw wound, then stopped and continued sitting.
"Wow, it must be amazing live venturing, in its own way, but I don't think I could survive that, I spent a year alone when I was younger, and it was very hard to live" sighed Dulce.
ATHENA
Nodding in understanding, Athena agreed, "The life of a loner isn't for everyone. Especially when you're young." She lowered herself to the ground. "Sometimes it's quite dull, to be honest." Chuckled the she-wolf."But you never run out of new faces to meet. I've been on my own for... almost two years now, I think it is." Looking at Dulce curiously, Athena asked, "How did you come to join Kausen?"
DULCE
Stopped with the green eyes in Athena for a moment, a little surprised at the question, she was still not used to talk about his past, "Well..I lived with my aunt and uncle when I was a puppy, but I think they never liked me..Then one day I was playing with one of my cousins, we were attacked by coyotes, and he did not survive.I only survived because I fell into a hole between the rocks.
When I got back to the pack, they blamed me of his death.So I was expelled, and went to live alone until I found Kausen. Maybe that's why I prefer to live in a pack, although I still don't have that many friends".
Then the she-wolf looked at the sky with a smile, "But I think that was the best thing that ever happened in my life, my family never treated me as one of them".
ATHENA
"That's horrible!" Athena replied with a growl, shocked. "How could they treat their own kin so callously, and a pup at that?" She huffed, troubled eyes flitting back and forth as she considered Dulce's story. She would have thought the cruelty of the world had lost it's sting by now, but Athena still felt the bile rise in her throat. "I'm glad you've found a home, at least. A realhome. Friends will come in time, I'm sure."
DULCE
The she-wolf smiled comforted, Athena had more heart than most wolves that went through her life. "Thank you Athena, your words really bring me hope to forget my past. "
"But one day", she said, "I want to meet my parents.I mean, I have never heard anything about them, I don't even know if they exist, but I feel that I need to meet them, I feel that, if they really exist, that they are not and never were like my uncles, because I'm not. "
In that instant, Dulce realise that outburst was doing and felt embarrassed,"Sorry Athena, you don't deserve to be listening outpourings, also because, after a blow as strong, you probably have a headache"
ATHENA
Tilting her head, Athena listened patiently. She did not find Dulce's chatter irritating. Rather, it sparked her curiosity. She had assumed that the younger female's mother and father were simply dead. But missing? That was something far more interesting. "There's nothing to apologize for." She replied easily. "I couldn't very well leave you stuck there, could I?"
Somewhere in the deep wood, a screech owl hooted. Looking up, Athena realized it was growing quite dark. She would need to find shelter soon. "Is there anything I can do to help? With your parents, I mean?" This land was strange still, and Athena did not have friends or informants who would be knowledgeable about such things... but even so. It was worth asking. This could be just the sort of distraction she needed. "I travel around quite a bit. If you have any leads, I could keep an ear to the ground - let you know of any promising rumours that sound similar."
DULCE
Dulce smiled, calmer,"No, I think, in fact it is just a dream, I don't even know if they exist really, but thanks for asking, if someday some wolf maybe looking for me, maybe it someone from my family, although it is hard to happen.." she said thoughful.
Looked to the sky, she needed to come home, and Athena was a loner, maybe she didn't know where she would sleep yet, "Athena, it seems that it's getting late, soon to be at night, I think I need to get back.I can't thank you enough for helping me, if it wasn't for you, maybe I'd spend the night here, thank you very much."
ATHENA
Athena gave a short nod. "I never forget a name. If anyone asks about you, I'll do what I can to help." Getting to her feet, the loner tested her balance. She wasn't dizzy anymore, and her thoughts were clear. She would have to deal with a nasty headache for a while, but Athena had dealt with worse before. "I'm just glad I could help. You're right, though... it's time I moved on as well."
Stepping back the way she came, the wanderer looked over her shoulder and grinned. "See you around, Dulce!"
DULCE
Dulce stood up examining her paw, "I will try to find a solution for this in my den, then I'll find a healer" thought.
"I hope to see you soon, Athena!" Said happy, then she looked Athena go her own way for a while until losing she of her sight, then she headed to the den, still limping a little.
