Aryn Announcement: The One's Will

A low howl echoed over the valley, the Lady’s summons beckoning all of Aryn to gather at the heart of the territory. Wardens, Rangers, Vicars, Coursers, each came to her call. This was the first she’d addressed the pack in nearly a moon-turn. Athena was a ragged sight, the fur she normally kept so well-groomed was now a disheveled mess and there was a haunted look in the Lady’s eyes that bespoke restless nights. Everyone knew the state of her youngest son, how he daily clung to life.

When the pack had gathered, Athena began. Her voice was hoarse from lack of use. “Wolves of Aryn, gather round. I bring good news, and a blessing in these dark winter days.” Looking over her shoulder, the Lady motioned for a stranger behind her to step forward. A fae-like, pale female came to stand alongside Athena. “I am returned from pilgrimage, where the One made His will known to me. The Great Spirit has sent us a Grand Vicar. Teia of the Valley shall act out the will of God, and guide us on our Path.”

Whispers broke out among the pack, some curious, others suspicious. Athena expected some dissent, for this was a stranger and Aryn a proud people. But in time, they would see in Teia what Athena did.  There could be no doubt, this was the will of the One.

Teia looked a little nervously out over the crowd of wolves.  So many wolves she had never seen before…

”Uh-h...hello..!” she called somewhat weakly, her voice jumping a tad.  “A-as you know, your leader Athena here has…” Teia hesitated.  Three seconds in and this already wasn’t going well.  She cringed.  “Uh, let me start over!” Teia laughed nervously, casting a glance over her shoulder at Athena.  She had never been good at group speaking, and being finally at the end of her exhaustive journey was somehow nerve-wracking.  How would she even know what to expect…?  Hopefully, the Great Spirit would guide her through this, as He had before...even as she thought it, it seemed as if a reassuring paw came to rest on her shoulder, though there was no one there.  There was no doubt as to who the feeling of comfort came from.

The white wolf paused for a moment, catching her breath and trying to organize her words.  She exhaled lightly through her mouth, then began again, her voice much calmer this time.  “I have traveled a long, long ways to meet you all here,” she called, her pitch now level and smooth.  “The Great Spirit told me, a long time ago, that I would find something here - something He had set out for me.  It appears your Aryn is it, heh!  And...I am relieved, no...overjoyed to have finally found you all at last,” Teia smiled, with a hesitant but hopeful glance back at Athena.  “I can’t wait to meet you all in person,” the white wolf finished with a friendly flick of her ears.  “Thank you for having me as your Grand Vicar.”  With a dip of her head, Teia stepped back to let her words sink in.  

She felt a tiny thrill of excitement in her chest as she retreated - after so long, she was finally here.  Thank you, she quietly prayed to the Great Spirit.  Thank you for taking me this far, and for getting me here safely.  I can’t wait to see what you have in store for me.  It seemed her journey was finally at an end, and tomorrow she could look forward to meeting all these new wolves, who would be her new students...her new family.
