Seven x Raphael

Seven

Seven pondered her ideas silently as the sun rose. It cast beautiful orange colours into the limestone cave that the Aryn wolves called their camp. She had been here for a few days now, and had already met quite a collection of new faces! All of which she got on well with. Sighing, she awaited for the light to reach her face, and soaked in the warmth that it offered.

She had always been an early riser, ever since she was very little, as the sun brought life. The she-wolf padded back into the den after a few moments, and glanced around, her eyes picking up on little movement. Suddenly, she noticed a smaller male, lying very close to the edge of the camp. He wasn't moving very much, and Seven cocked her head slightly. She slowly made her way over to him.

"Hello!" she greeted, her blue eyes shining with a friendly nature. She thought it was about time she did the introducing, instead of waiting for another to do it for her.

Raphael

They still wouldn't let him leave the den. But Raphael had finally improved enough that the healers were recommending fresh-air, and his mother had finally acquiesced to his begging to be allowed outdoors. Winter lingered, just enough to keep a chill in the air, but the signs of spring were everywhere and green buds dotted the landscape all around. It was the young wolf's first spring. He was entranced by it.

So entranced, in fact, that he didn't realize another wolf was present until she spoke up beside him. The thin cub started violently, sucking in a sharp breath and then sneezing so hard he practically fell over. Lightheaded, Cricket's pale eyes met the stranger's bright blue ones. "S-sorry I-I..." Clearing his throat, the runt pushed himself back to a sitting posture and gave an apologetic smile. Hullo..."

Seven

Seven watched as the little male looked at her, rather startled it would seem. He opened his mouth to reply, but was taken over by a monstrous sneeze. Seven snorted, and giggled with light laughter, her blue eyes shining with amusement. She waved a paw absently and returned, "Hehe, don't worry about it!". She watched his features for a short moment, and began to realise the resemblance that the little male held with Lazarus. Although he looked to be much younger...

"My name is Seven! Sorry if I startled you" she added with a friendly grin, "I am new around here, and kind of want to get to know everyone!" she continued. "What's your name?" she asked curiously, cocking her head slightly.

Raphael

She was laughing at him, but it was friendly, lighthearted tilt that didn't make Raphael feel like the butt of the joke. It was a welcome change, and Raph decided he liked Seven, at least so far. Shuffling his paws, the young wolf sat up a little straighter."M'name's Raph..." Lip quirking, one of the runt's ears drooped and then he grinned again. "But, most everyone calls me Cricket. ... Are you here with your family?" He asked. He hadn't seen any new adults around. But then, he hadn't met Seven before either, so maybe that wasn't surprising.

Seven

Seven felt her heart swell as the little male smiled at her. She was glad that he was happy, he seemed so small....She pricked her ears at his question and shook her head slightly "No...I am here on my own. Kris'tran found me in a storm and brought me back here" she stated.

"But that's ok, he is like a Dad now" she added with a light smile. She thought for a few moments, before cocking her head and suggesting, "Do you want to play a game Raph?" She was eager to get to know this little one, and thought that a quick game was a good idea.

Raphael

"Oh." His ears drooped as she explained. He felt bad for asking, even though she didn't seem too broken up about having an adoptive family instead of a real one."I'm sorry... But that's good, that you have Kris. He's a... good wolf. Ahem." Clearing his throat, Raphael got to his feet. It was immediately obvious how much smaller he was than Seven. Even put next to his own littermates Raphael looked months younger.

"What kind of game?" He asked, tail waving. Most of the other pups didn't bother including him in their games anymore. He wasn't strong enough to keep up. It was exciting to be invited once more, though a flicker of worry crossed his features as he wondered whether it would be anything too difficult, and if Seven would realize he wasn't really any fun to play with.

Seven

Seven shrugged her shoulder, and returned, "It's alright, don't worry about it". She was internally very relieved not to be talking about it anymore.... She brightened up significantly when the male seemed intent on participating in a game with her. The female subtly eyed the other wolf, and picked up on his frailness, so she decided to keep things on the cooler side.

"How about hide and seek?" she finally suggested, her eyes already picking out a few spots around the camp. Luckily for them the camp was made up of many crevasses and notches. Perfect for a good game!

Raphael

A boyish grin pulled at Raph's lip at her suggestion, excitement growing. This was definitely a game he could play! Sounds great!" The young wolf replied, and then sneezed again. Shifting from paw to paw, Raph looked around the den-site for any likely hideaways. The main den was huge cavern, and the foliage outside was dense, plenty of places to squirrel away! He felt anxious to do well, it wouldn't be seemly at all to disappoint Seven when she was going out of her way to get to know him. Then, tilting his head, the youngster leaned back and lifted a forepaw, "Ladies first? You pick sides!"

Seven

Seven smiled back, his grin bringing her great joy. She loved making other happy, and was so excited that he wished to play with her! "Sounds good." she returned, "Ok, I will hide first, you close your eyes and count to ten" she stated, her muscles bunching as she readied herself.

The auburn female jerked her gaze around and yelped "Go!" before launching across the camp in a quick-paced attempt to find a good hiding place. The female suddenly spotted a cleft in the side of the cave, that looked out to the forest. She scrambled up and pressed herself as far in as she could, before sitting back silently and waiting for her playmate to track her down.

Raphael

"Okay!" He replied, ducking down to his elbows and covering his eyes with his paws. "One, two, three, four, five, six- ACHOO!, ... seven, eight, nine... ten!" Cricket uncovered his eyes and bolted upright, exclaiming "Ready'r'not, here I come!"

Still grinning, he glanced back and forth around the cave. His brows creased as he made a wide arc around the main chamber, nose to the ground in an attempt to pinpoint Seven over all the other smells in the den-site. Her scent was definitely there but Raph was having trouble following the trail. How were the Rangers so good at this?

Using sight as well as scent, Cricket went poking into every crevice large enough to hide a wolf. It took him a little while, he was exceedingly thorough in his inspection. Cricket wanted to be sure he didn't walk past Seven accidentally! How embarrassing would that be?

It paid off, eventually. Raphael clambered up the rocks to a crevice where sunlight poured through, hoping it would give him a better perspective. As he did so, however, he came face to face with Seven herself. "Found you!" Raph yipped in surprise, nearly losing his balance in the processes and sliding back down the limestone.

Seven

Seven lay with her ears pricked, determined to pick up the trace of even the slightest sound. She heard the paw-steps of her pack-mates, but couldn't tell whether or not they came from her playmate. A few moments later she heard the scuffling, near the bottom of the ridge, and Seven knew at that point that she had been found. Raphael's face popped up in her line of vision, and Seven giggled as he toppled backwards with a victorious yelp.

The auburn female poked her head out of her little cave, and took a ginormous leap, over the head of the other wolf, and landing behind him, her paws slapping against the limestone floor of the camp. Awesome!!" she cried, her eyes gleaming with immense enjoyment. "Now your turn" she added, crouching down low and covering her eyes with her paws, ready to begin counting.

Raphael

Sitting up eagerly, Raphael's tail wiggled with delight as Seven hopped over him. Woah! He was pretty sure even Teva couldn't have made a jump like that! He didn't have too much time to awe over it though, as Seven ducked down, ready for the next round. My turn! Cricket couldn't remember the last time he'd had so much fun. Spinning, Raphael's chest tightened nervously as he looked for a decent place to hide. It had to be a good one.

Of course!

Crouching, Raph stalked as quickly as he could to a jagged crevice in the rock. The Vicars used it to store herbs. The plants would mask his scent and it would be too dark to see him clearly... or at least, he hoped so. Raph curled up into the tightest ball he could, waiting with wide eyes.

He wasn't sure how much time passed, he couldn't tell whether Seven was still counting or not. But the sharp tang of the herbs was beginning to tickle his nose. Panic threaded through Cricket as pressure built up in the back of his throat. Nooo! He was about to sneeze again!

Seven

Seven could hear the scuffle of paws as the juvenile padded away to hide. She counted the numbers out loud, stopping at ten and yelping, "Ready or not, here I come!". Adrenaline rushed through her blood as she shoved her nose to the ground and began rooting around, attempting to pick up the scent of Raph. Her tail stuck up in the air sharply, her ears pricked. She could sense the curious eyes of her pack-mates watching her fur, but she didn't mind.

This was way two much fun!

The female caught her friends trail, and followed it with eager paws, winding her way across the camp, she narrowed her eyes and scanned any possible crack where the other wolf could be lurking. She padded past a very strong smelling crack, and snorted at the obvious taint of herbs. As the she-wolf passed by, a rather loud sneeze came from the wall.

She jerked her head around, surprise lighting up on her face. Seven poked her muzzle into the gap and spotted Raphael, curled up inside. "I didn't think rock sneezed" she laughed, her blue eyes glimmering.

Raphael

At first, he was really upset. This had been such a great hiding place! Why did he have to go and sneeze, and ruin everything? He expected Seven to make fun of him, to gloat... but she didn't. Tilting his head at her banter, it took Raphael a moment to realize there was no insult behind Seven's lighthearted jokes. And then, he was grinning too.

Squeezing out of the crevasse, Raph's tail wriggled back and forth enthusiastically. "Next time won't be so easy!" He giggled, crouching down into a playful pose before rolling over onto his side with a contented sigh. "This is a fun game!" Yipped the smaller wolf, feeling a characteristic childhood need to state the obvious. "You're really fun to play with, Seven."

Raph couldn't wait to tell Mother all about the fun they were having! Although, she would probably just scold him for overexerting himself. Even though he was completely fine! Raph's smile faded, but only for a moment. Maybe this would prove to his Mom that he really was getting better, and she should let him start going out with the other wolves!

He gave his playmate a warm grin, eyes shining as he sat up once more. "It's your turn again! One, two-"
